Well I don't know about you all, but we've been counting down the days to Sunday since May! As an old "Italy Fish" myself (participating in 2011) I can understand the excitement and anticipation that precede this trip. Trust me, it is something to be excited about!
We as student leaders and staff directors are working hard to finalize everything in preparation for our departure. One way we will be communicating during our trip is through the utilization of this blog to share a little bit of our daily experiences with you. Each day, our student participants will update this blog by sharing where we went, what we saw, and any unique and personal insights the writers experienced during the day. We will do our best to rotate through each and every student to ensure that everyone gets a chance to share what they have been doing.
This will be the group's official line of communication about our daily experiences, so I would encourage you to check it daily (FYI Italy is 7 hours ahead, so check in during your afternoon snack for a fresh post!). Many students, including myself, updated personal blogs and/or emails home on a regular basis as well. At the airport, you'll have the opportunity to network with other parents. If you would like to share any pictures, emails, or other news with other parents, you can group up and exchange emails. I remember very fondly the welcome I received from my new friends' parents who had "gotten to know me from my emails home" when I arrived in Houston, especially because my family was still a few hours away.
As we prepare for departure, remember that if there are any questions, you can reach us via email or the Facebook group that most students have joined. We can't wait to see you all this weekend!
Thanks and Gig 'em!
